I highly recommend this book to fellow cognitive scientists, and more generally those curious about some of the theory underlying Buddhism. However, as the book went on I became a bit disenchanted with some of the patterns. As a Easterner, when I first pick up this book, I am expecting to read a comparison of the Buddhism and Christianity. Authors attempt to address these questions at some level, but their responses are often muddled by imprecise metaphor and contradictory claims.


Their conversation is not merely abstract: The result is a frank, deep talk, about some of the most fundamental questions that humans have studied and meditated about for thousands of years.

All in all, it’s a decent read.

There are no discussion topics mafthieu this book yet. As someone who has been interested in Philosophy for several years now, I found this book to be a refreshing read which helped me understand the different goals of the eastern and western schools of thoughts and hence appreciate the consequences of these thoughts that have manifested in terms of the respective matthhieu.

Does life have meaning? Had I done this, I I wasn’t quite what to expect from the book when I first read it though I did know what I was getting myself in for.
