There is practically no worldbuilding, except where necessary for the storyline. I read Banished way back in January, so my memory is a little hazy of what actually happened in the book.

Do you like a good chase? She cooks and cleans, does her homework, cares for Chub and Rascal, the family dog.

None of this happens but if you want to find out how it’s prevented read the book! Also, the constant repeating of what happened im the first book was not necessary I think. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. But after Hailey accidentally uses her healing abilities to heal a friend in gym class, her world isn’t the same.

I really enjoy her work: However as a main character, it would have been nice to have her be at least a little stronger, fiercer, or maybe smarter. But just when things start to settle down for Hailey -or at least seem to. It was page turning at first then gradually turned to be boring. I will be clear, I know I’m not the best writer, and I do tend to use ellipses.

BANISHED centers around Hailey Tarbell, a small-town girl from the wrong side of the tracks who discovers she’s heir to an ancient legacy and all the power that it brings.

It’s not that the plot is in any way weak, but it’s nothing special to say the least. I loved how in Hailey’s world, there were consequences for using magic. Hailey figures she’ll never belong—not with the popular kids at school, not with the rejects, not even with her cruel, sickly grandmother, who deals drugs out of their basement.

Sophie Littlefield :: Writer

Sophie Littlefield did a tremendous job finding Hailey’s voice. By the end, she had a little more of an understanding.

You can almost taste Hailey’s frustration as her Grandmother refuses to answer her questions and Milla thwarts all her attempts to be friendly with her, even though she saved her life. She shouldn’t have kept it as a secret from Prairie and Anna Kaz’s mom.

The best paranormal books offer unique worldbuilding of their supernatural side and combine that with strong, compelling characters and relationships for their urban side. From the Hardcover edition. How about a littleifeld element? So many people would’ve given up and become part of the cycle of poverty and despair—the same cycle Hailey saw every day at school and within her community.

Though she has an amazing gift, Hailey’s life is anything but.

I am officially a fan for life. Feb 28, Erin rated it it was ok Shelves: No trivia or quizzes yet. Unforsaken offers a great deal more action than its predecessor, and the storyline moves along extremely quickly, offering more than a few surprises along the way especially at the end that will have readers very thankful that a second book was written.

And the premise is to die for! It is hard for me to read zombie books because of what they are – lifeless creatures.

Sophie Littlefield has sopuie amazing talent that allows her to write a story well enough that you feel like you’re there, like you’re part of the action. Apr 18, AJ marked it as to-read I was a little worried as I started this book as it is quite slow to get going in my opinion despite the fact that this is a very short book but I did end up enjoying littlwfield. Amazon Second Chance Pass it on, trade it in, give it a second life. While I like the idea of The Banished, I still haven’t quite got the understanding of the history. Go read this book. She believes that Hailey has cursed her. The reader can relate to the confusion and helplessness that our protagonist,Hailey feels as she tries to discover who she is or rather what she is.

The writing was great, I loved the family mythology, and I enjoyed the characters. People want to use her power for evil and so she is running away with a variety of people. Customers who bought this item also bought. Littlefields writing is, as always, stellar.
